The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do.

Clinical Supervision Philosophy

My philosophy of clinical supervision is grounded in the belief that clinicians grow best in an environment that is supportive, collaborative, and rooted in reflective practice. I view supervision as a shared learning process where the supervisee's experiences, insights, and developing clinical voice are honored and actively explored.

A Foundation Built on Diverse Experience

My approach to supervision is holistic, drawing from a career path that has uniquely equipped me to support developing professionals. I believe that effective clinical work is supported by strong professional skills, process development, and clear communication—all areas I have cultivated through varied roles.

A Career Journey Beyond the Clinical

My professional background is rich with experiences that, while not always in traditional social work settings, have shaped me into a well-rounded and effective professional and supervisor.

  • Business Acumen and Systems Thinking: Early in my career, when seeking psychology field internships during my undergraduate studies, I secured a role with a NASA contractor. This non-traditional experience provided invaluable insight into procurement, major government contracts, and the development of complex products and services. This gives me a strong foundation in business, process development, and project management.
  • Non-Profit Leadership and Community Engagement: Following graduation, I worked with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, gaining critical experience within a major non-profit organization.
  • Leadership, Justice, and Education: In graduate school, I served as a Program Manager through a fellowship with the Joseph E. Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights. This powerful opportunity allowed me to work closely with a prominent civil rights leader and develop programs, including a non-violence initiative where I managed undergraduates supporting elementary students. This experience highlights my commitment to equipping scholars to be thoughtful professionals and my expertise in curriculum development and establishing my voice within major organizations.

What This Means for Your Supervision

My unique experiences ensure that your supervision will go beyond clinical theory, covering essential professional skills:

  • Strong Foundation in Business: Understanding organizational structure, contracts, and resource management.
  • Professional Development: Equipping you to be a thoughtful professional who can navigate complex systems.
  • Process and Curriculum Development: Helping you to develop your own effective client-care models and protocols.
  • Management and Oversight: Assisting you with understanding customer satisfaction (client experience) and managing products/services (your clinical offerings).
  • Effective Communication: Guiding you in establishing your voice and building relationships with managers, directors, and oversight bodies.

My purpose has been to bring these seemingly disparate, yet deeply connected, experiences together. Even when my path seemed misaligned with my education, I recognize now that it has all been connected to my divine assignment to learn, grow, and pass that wisdom on. I carry this experience into supervision to give to others and continue my own journey of learning and professional development.
